Flat Weave 'vs' Full Rod Rattan

Buying rattan furniture for your home and garden is a big investment. You want to be sure that you're getting the best quality furniture possible without spending a fortune.

When shopping for rattan furniture you may come across two types of construction methods – flat weave and full rod. So, what's the difference between flat weave and full rod rattan furniture and which is better?

Full rod rattan furniture is made with a full-sized rattan pole running through the centre of each piece. This provides extra support and stability, making it ideal for areas that see a lot of traffic or for pieces that will be used frequently.

Full rod rattan furniture is also typically more expensive than other types of rattan furniture, due to the increased durability and support that it offers.

Flat weave rattan on the other hand is made with, as the name suggests, flat rattan strips that are woven together. This type of rattan furniture is usually lighter and more affordable than full-rod rattan furniture, but it is not as durable or supportive.

With this in mind flat weave rattan is unlikely to last as long as full rod rattan and may be best suited for occasional use.

So, which is better? It really depends on your needs and budget. If you are looking for something durable and supportive then full rod rattan furniture is the way to go, but if you are more concerned with affordability then flat weave rattan may be a better option.

If you’re currently looking for rattan garden furniture, then browse our range online or in-store. We stock a range of full rod rattan pieces that offer great durability.

Thanks for reading! We hope this article clarified the difference between flat weave and full rod rattan furniture. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
